What is Nugenix Total-T?
Nugenix Total-T is a testosterone booster from a company of the same name. It claims to help:
- Muscle Mass
- Energy Levels
- Testosterone
- Sex Drive
But how effective is it really? In this report, we look closer at this supplement’s ingredients, servings and side effects to see if you should really use it.

Nugenix Total-T Ingredients – Are they good?
Despite the reputation of Nugenix, this testosterone booster doesn’t exactly have the type of ingredients that we’re looking for.
Some of them here do help testosterone, however, we feel some improvements could definitely be made.
Below, we have our write up of the main ingredients in this supplement, along with how we think they can be better.
Here’s the full story:
Zinc
This is a good start to Nugenix Total-T, but we are concerned about the dosage as there is only 1mg.
You should be looking for around 10mg of Zinc or more when supplementing this mineral for testosterone benefits.
But all that aside, why is it good for raising the male hormone?
Zinc works well because your body can use it for chemical reactions in your brain. These reactions help you brain to create more of the Luteinizing Hormone (LH). LH is your body’s precursor to both growth hormone and testosterone. The more of it you have in your system, the more support your testosterone levels have to rise.
It’s a great addition, we just wish the dosage here would’ve been higher.
L-Citrulline
This isn’t a great option in Nugenix Total-T. L-Citrulline does have it’s advantages, but we feel like it is too under-dosed in this supplement.
Typically, L-Citrulline works by converting to L-Arginine in your body after you absorb it. This L-Arginine helps to promote your body’s overall levels of nitric oxide, which boosts blood flow and muscle pumps.
It’s great for workouts at the gym. However, the problem with this amino acid is that you need a lot of it for results.
Studies suggest dosages between 6000 – 8000mg for you to get the best outcome. With only 1125mg in this supplement, you’re unlikely to give your body enough for you to see the best results in your performance.
It’s also worth noting that this nutrient does not help testosterone levels.
Fenugreek
This is a much better option in this supplement. We’re glad Fenugreek is in Nugenix Total-T.
Fenugreek doesn’t directly boost testosterone, but creates a good hormonal environment to encourage it. When you consume Fenugreek it can help to regulate your blood sugar and insulin levels.
This matters because high insulin levels can lower your testosterone. It’s all due to a hormonal balancing process in your body known as homeostasis. The more you have of one hormone, the less you have of another. In this case, the more insulin, the less testosterone.
By using Fenugreek, you can help keep your insulin levels under control, which gives your testosterone more support to grow.
Ancient Peat & Apple Fruit Extract (elevATP)
This is a relatively new nutrient on the market: elevATP. It’s a combination of both Ancient Peat and Apple Fruit – and we don’t know how much of each is in this concoction.
However, we have read some promising studies on it. It works by boosting your ATP levels, which is also what creatine does. ATP is basically what your muscles use for energy.
The more of it you have in your system, the more support you have to train in the gym. It won’t help your testosterone, but it’s a nice addition.
Eurycoma Longifolia
Also known as Tongkat Ali and Longjack. This is an ingredient that has multiple claims to boost testosterone, however, you’d be surprised at what the studies have to say.
In short, it’s unlikely to work for you in Nugenix Total-T.
Longjack is a nutrient that can help raise testosterone and libido in rat studies – however, there are no human studies which show the same thing.
The only thing it has been seen to do successfully in studies is help promote sex drive and libido. Unfortunately, the testosterone benefits are yet to be seen, and it doesn’t seem likely.
Boron
This is a much better ingredient in Nugenix Total-T. Boron is a mineral which has studies showing it to help testosterone.
Research shows that supplementing Boron can help to improve both testosterone, and estrogen by lowering your levels of the female hormone.
10mg is a good amount in here to help you get the most benefit out of supplementing it.
Ingredients Summary
When it comes to Nugenix Total-T, there are some good ingredients in here, but there’s definite improvements that need to be made.
Zinc is a good choice, but the dosage is very low. Fenugreek is better, and the Boron is great.
However, the L-Citrulline appears to be under-dosed, Longjack doesn’t help testosterone, neither does the elevATP.
More focus is needed on testosterone producers and those that help free testosterone. We’ll cover this more in the improvements section later.
Nugenix Total-T Side Effects – Are there any?
Not that we can see, Nugenix is good for this, they seem to always make a safe product.
All the ingredients are completely natural and don’t have links to causing any negative side effects – especially with the dosages they’re at.
If you have any concerns, we suggest that you speak to your doctor before using it. Also ensure that you don’t have any preexisting conditions.

How are the servings in Nugenix Total-T?
There’s only one serving a day, which isn’t ideal if you’re looking to to actively promote your testosterone levels.
Why? Because with one serving a day, your body is only getting a few hours of benefit from Nugenix Total-T. You’re not getting that constant supply of the nutrients you need throughout the day to keep you growing.
Ideally, what you need is a testosterone booster which has 3 – 4 servings a day to keep you supplied with the nutrients you need to get higher levels.
What would improve Nugenix Total-T?
More servings (maybe set it to 3 servings a day) and more testosterone producers and free testosterone promoters.
Good choices for this would be Vitamin D3, D-Aspartic Acid, Magnesium and Stinging Nettle.
Vitamin D3 is technically a hormone. It’s a potent and natural ingredient that we only get from the sun’s rays. It can directly affect and boost your testosterone levels. Most people don’t get enough throughout the day to optmize their testosterone levels with it.
By supplementing 3300 IU a day, you’d see a lot more progress.
D-Aspartic Acid would help to support the small amount of Zinc in here. It too helps to produce the LH in your brain which can improve your overall levels of growth hormone and testosterone.
Finally, Magnesium and Stinging Nettle would both help as they both improve free testosterone.
Free testosterone is the amount of testosterone you have circulating in your blood that is available to you. It is reduced by a protein in your blood called Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG). Magnesium and Nettle help by binding to the SHBG and reducing it’s overall influence.
Nugenix Total-T Review Summary
Overall, this isn’t the best testosterone booster out there. Nugenix is a big name in the industry, but it doesn’t seem to deliver as well as it could do.
The main weaknesses are in the ingredients and the small servings. It’s not too far gone, just a few tweaks to the formula and how it’s delivered could really help make this supplement more effective.
