Turves, The Bear of Turves Green

Turves Green Primary School

Pupils have been learning about the history of the Turves Green area, which dates back to the Middle Ages. They discovered that in the past it was a popular place to graze animals because of its lush green turf. The design represents this local history and the hope for a green future. The blank sculpture was generously donated by The Schools of King Edward VI to the primary school as part of their ‘Opening Doors’ campaign.
